Meet Our Founder – Marcia Robinson

I’m Marcia Robinson, the founder of AACKA – African and Afro-Caribbean Kidney Awareness. After more than 35 years working in senior IT roles for Birmingham City Council, I chose to turn my skills and energy toward something deeply personal — raising awareness about the silent but serious impact of kidney disease in our communities.

AACKA was born out of a desire to change the narrative. Too many people of African and Afro-Caribbean heritage are being diagnosed late or not receiving the information they need to take control of their kidney health. I founded AACKA to bridge that gap — to educate, empower, and encourage action at every level. Whether it’s through community walks, health screenings, wellness challenges, or simply starting conversations, my mission is to ensure that no one feels alone or unheard when it comes to their health.

This initiative is not just about raising awareness — it’s about coming together. I believe that even the smallest action can grow into something powerful. As we plant the seeds of knowledge and support in our community, we grow stronger — together.

Thank you for joining us on this journey. Your support, voice, and presence matter.
